The British Council in partnership with Bangor University has announced the Professional Development Training for professionals and researchers specialising in developmental disabilities in South Asia.

The Professional Training Scheme provides a variety of specialised learning opportunities to help practitioners in South Asia improve their professional knowledge, competence, skills and effectiveness.

Priority Area

Mental health: The Mental Health Initiative for South Asia focuses on improving mental health in the UK and South Asia. The purpose of the scheme is to identify areas for collaboration and facilitate communication and partnerships for research on mental health between universities and research institutes in the UK and South Asia.

The main themes of the Mental Health Initiative are:

The scheme is available for practitioners based in the following South Asian countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka.

The workshop will be held in Dubai, UAE, on 23rd to 26th July 2019.

Eligibility Criteria

Delegates should be based on higher education, research, or clinical institutions in countries in South Asia (including Nepal, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh). Female academics or clinicians and those who identify as having a disability are encouraged to apply.
