Call for EOIs: Provision of Integrated Lifesaving and Preventive Health and Nutrition Interventions in Sudan

Open Call for Proposals for Farm Safety, Health and Wellbeing Projects (Ireland)

Deadline: 24-Jul-2025

This Call for Expression of Interest invites qualified national and international NGOs to partner with UNICEF in delivering integrated lifesaving health and nutrition services focused on famine preparedness and response.

The focus areas include child health, health in emergencies, health systems strengthening, immunization, maternal and newborn health including emergency obstetric care, as well as nutrition services such as infant and young child feeding, malnutrition prevention and treatment.

The geographic focus spans several states in Sudan: East Darfur, Khartoum, Gezira, South Darfur, Red Sea, West Kordofan, South Kordofan, and North Darfur.

Working alongside the government and other partners, UNICEF aims to deliver high-impact health services to vulnerable children, adolescents, and women at both facility and community levels in development and emergency settings.

Key activities include providing integrated primary health care through fixed and mobile health teams, outreaches offering maternal and neonatal health, child health interventions like ICCM and immunization, and distribution of supplies such as IMCI, PHC, midwifery, and AWD kits.

Capacity building for healthcare providers and on-site supervision, mentoring, and monitoring are essential components of program implementation.

For nutrition, the focus is on treating severe acute malnutrition (SAM) through fixed and mobile outpatient therapeutic programs, including inpatient management where needed, based on cluster mapping.

Regular screening for malnutrition at facility and community levels will be linked with growth monitoring and promotion.

Community nutrition volunteers will be deployed in remote villages to provide integrated nutrition services, monthly screening, referrals, and infant and young child feeding counseling and awareness.

Selection criteria for partners emphasize cost effectiveness, clear activity plans with expected results, local experience and presence, among other factors.
