Eco Generation announces 2020 Hidden ECO-HERO Awards

Deadline: 07-Jan-21

Do you know of an incredible leader, social worker, case manager or foster parent in your community who is doing awesome work for the children in the foster care system? If so, nominate them for National Indian Child Welfare Association’s (NICWA) highest honor, the Champion for Native Children Award.

This annual award honors an individual or organization that has made outstanding contributions to the well-being of Indigenous children, families, and communities in the United States or Canada.

Awardee will be honored at NICWA’s hybrid 39th Annual Protecting Children Conference on Child Abuse in Seattle, Washington and virtually on April 11-14, 2021.

NICWA is a private, nonprofit, membership organization based in Portland, Oregon. Our members include tribes, individuals—both Native and non-Native—and private organizations from around the United States concerned with Native child and family issues. Together, our partners, board, and staff work to protect Native children and keep them connected to their family, community, and culture.

Vision

  • Every Native child must have access to community-based, culturally appropriate services that help them grow up safe, healthy, and spiritually strong—free from abuse, neglect, sexual exploitation, and the damaging effects of substance abuse.

Mission

  • NICWA is dedicated to the well-being of American Indian and Alaska Native children and families.
