Nominations open for Bursary Awards 2026 (Ireland)

Deadline: 04-Nov-2025

Applications are now open for the Bursary Awards to provide support for individual artists who wish to further develop their artistic practices.

The bursary programme provides an opportunity for artists across disciplines to pursue education, mentorship, residencies, training, or research that will help strengthen their practices. Notably, the total budget for 2026 has been doubled to €100,000, with applicants able to request up to €5,000 each. The bursaries are intended to support development and are not designed for the creation, presentation, or public dissemination of new or existing work.

The Dublin City Arts Office is committed to fair remuneration, and artist fees must be clearly detailed in budgets. In-kind support should also be assigned a financial value to reflect the true scale of the proposal. Additional access costs can be requested by artists or collaborators with disabilities, with clear documentation of needs included.

The awards cover a wide range of artistic disciplines including architecture, visual art, circus, street art and spectacle, dance, film, literature, multi-disciplinary, music and opera, theatre, traditional art, and art for young people and children. Applicants working outside of these fields may also apply by selecting “Other” and describing their practice.

Eligibility is open to those living within the Dublin City Council administrative area who have a plan for developing their artistic practice. Applications will be assessed competitively, focusing on the quality and ambition of the project, the relevance and timeliness of the proposal for the applicant’s development, and the overall feasibility of the plan.

Applicants must submit a CV, detailed budget, examples of previous work, letters confirming collaborations or contributions, and referee details. Applications must be made through submissions by email or hard copy are not accepted. Proposals that include undergraduate education, capital purchases, or activities that fall outside the bursary’s scope will not be considered. Application closes on 4 November 2025.
