Professional Development Grant for Emerging Scholars in United States

Call for Proposals: Training for Oman - MENA Scholarship Programme (Netherlands)

Deadline: 13-Aug-2025

The National Research Center on Hispanic Children & Families has opened its 2025 Emerging Scholars’ Grant Program to support doctoral students and early career scholars focused on poverty, economic well-being, and early care and education (ECE) among Hispanic families with low incomes. The program offers grants of up to $2,850 to fund professional development or early-stage research activities.

Eligible applicants include PhD students or scholars within seven years of completing their doctorate in economics, sociology, public policy, demography, population sciences, or related fields. Applicants must have a strong interest in topics such as how Hispanic families access and experience safety net programs like TANF, CCDF, and Head Start; economic mobility; labor force participation; or child care as support for working parents. The Center prioritizes work that informs policy or practice related to federal human service programs and the ECE needs of Hispanic families.

Applications will be reviewed based on how well the applicant’s research aligns with the program’s themes, potential policy impact, and how the grant would support their professional growth in the context of available institutional resources.

To apply, candidates must submit a 500-word letter of interest outlining their research agenda, relevance to Hispanic children and families in low-income households, implications for programs like TANF, CCDF, and Head Start, and details about the professional development activities the grant would support, including any funding gaps the grant would address.
