Deadline: 2-December-2025
The initiative aims to support efforts that will ensure every child is protected from preventable diseases through improved routine immunisation activities and stronger community engagement.
The primary objective of the grant is to increase immunisation rates by tracking and vaccinating zero-dose and underimmunised children. It also seeks to address vaccine hesitancy by engaging non-compliant households and ensuring that children in those homes receive the necessary vaccines. Another key focus is on improving data quality in selected health facilities to ensure accurate tracking of progress. In addition, the grant supports result-oriented advocacy that encourages increased budget allocation and the timely release of funds for routine immunisation and primary healthcare.
The grant program is expected to begin in March 2026, following a three-month period of application review, due diligence, and contracting. Each grant will run for up to 21 months, with all projects concluding by December 2027. The total grant budget for the ten target locations is as follows: Kano – $1,000,000; Katsina – $800,000; Jigawa – $500,000; Zamfara – $800,000; Sokoto – $600,000; Kebbi – $600,000; Bayelsa – $400,000; Kaduna – $800,000; Bauchi – $600,000; and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) – $400,000.
Eligibility for this opportunity is limited to registered civil society organisations and not-for-profit entities operating in Nigeria. Applicants must have valid registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission for the duration of the grant. Preference will be given to organisations that have received clearance or support from either the National Primary Health Care Development Agency or the respective State Primary Health Care Development Agency. Community-based organisations are expected to have a local presence in the specific local government areas where they intend to implement their projects.
Applicants must demonstrate prior experience in the health sector, particularly in child health and immunisation initiatives, with at least three years of relevant project implementation in Nigeria. Organisations may submit applications for more than one state but will only be awarded one grant. The lead or sub-applicant must also show experience working in the specific state or local government area targeted in the proposal.
Financially, eligible applicants must have the capacity to manage and account for funds effectively. Their bank accounts must be capable of receiving payments in US dollars, and their financial records must show an average annual expenditure over the past three years that exceeds at least half the value of the annual grant amount they are applying for.
This grant opportunity provides a significant avenue for qualified civil society organisations to make a tangible impact on child health outcomes across Nigeria. Through collaborative action and data-driven strategies, the initiative aims to close the immunisation gap, strengthen healthcare delivery systems, and ensure that every child—no matter where they live has access to life-saving vaccines.
