Call for Applications — 2023 Model OSCE

Young Pacific Leaders Small Grants Competition

Deadline: 30-Apr-23

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Regional Office for Cooperation and Peace in Europe (FES ROCPE) are excited to launch “Model OSCE 2023” with a regional focus on Western Europe.

They are looking for 20 students and young professionals who are passionate about comprehensive security and committed to engage in a simulation game focused on conflict resolution by reproducing the Permanent Council of the OSCE, the principal decision-making body for regular political consultations and for governing the day-to-day operational work of the OSCE.

The aim of Model OSCE is to build confidence and strengthen dialogue between young women and men with different backgrounds and empower them by enhancing their knowledge and skills on OSCE principles, values and processes which they can apply and promote in their respective professional, political and civic engagement roles.

Participants will represent an OSCE participating State and other relevant actors who work together to resolve a crisis. During the three-day event, the participants will receive negotiation skills training and learn about the work of the OSCE, OSCE structures and consensus-based decision-making.

Model OSCE is an initiative of the Office of the OSCE Secretary General, in partnership with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Regional Office for Cooperation and Peace in Europe.

The programme is part of the series of Model OSCE events that will be organized at national, sub-regional and regional levels to promote dialogue and mutual understanding among young people.
