Deadline: 06-Sep-2024

The Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, is organising a two-day (Thursday 17 and Friday 18 October 2024) capacity-building workshop for African civil society organisations (CSOs) on engagement with the African human rights system.

The workshop targets African CSOs that have so far had limited or no interaction with the three core African human rights bodies, namely: the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights, the African Court on Human and People’s Rights and the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child.

The aim is to equip more African CSOs with an understanding of the African Union human rights landscape. The training will cover the key treaties and mechanisms of the African human rights system and the requirements for formal engagement with the system. The training will be facilitated by subject matter experts and practitioners drawn from academia, legal practitioners, civil society, and some of the African human rights bodies in focus.
