European Commission is seeking applications for its ‘Organizations of Civil and Local Authorities Society’ programme, to strengthen civil society as a development actor promoting their active voice in the political dialogue, social and economic with States.

The specific objective of this call is to promote increased capacity of CSOs to strengthen their presence on the public stage in the political, social and economic context, contributing to more effective public policies and services, for a more participatory and transparent democracy and sustainable development and inclusive.

Wishing to encourage the role of civil society in monitoring the implementation of the existing legal framework by strengthening their voice in defense of consumer rights and economic dialogue in the country, this call for proposals aims to respond to the publication on 8 July 2016 a new Law on consumer protection (Law No. 8/2016) establishing a legal framework for the protection and consumer protection and seeks to foster greater quality in the business sector in Timor-Leste.

This call for proposals comes up with a complementary order of the priorities defined in the National Indicative Program 2014-2020 for Timor-Leste and the projects of the 11th EDF, focused on the priorities of good governance and rural development, so that the proposals complement this framework, as well as those that are aligned with the Strategic Plan for Timor-Leste Development 2011-2030 are encouraged.
