Deadline: 15-Dec-2025
Somerset Community Foundation is inviting applications from community groups working in areas affected by the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project.
The Hinkley Point C Community Fund is open all year round, with four application deadlines each year. Each year, the Foundation distributes over £1 million through this fund, supporting projects that help local communities respond to the impacts of Hinkley Point C or take advantage of the opportunities it brings. The fund is designed to create lasting benefits for people living in the areas most affected by the construction and operation of the power station. Multi-year grants of over £10,000 per year are available to support eligible projects.
Priority will be given to groups based in communities that have experienced greater impacts from Hinkley Point C and that have strong backing from local residents. The Foundation is particularly interested in projects that clearly address local challenges or opportunities linked to the development, work collaboratively with other organizations, offer good value for money, and plan for sustainability beyond the end of the grant.
To be considered for funding, organizations must meet the Foundation’s minimum standards, which ensure that all grants go to well-run, accountable, and responsible groups. These standards outline the types of organizations eligible for funding, how they are expected to manage their operations and finances, and the measures they take to keep people safe. Only groups seeking funding for work in areas directly affected by Hinkley Point C will be eligible.
This ongoing funding opportunity represents a major investment in community resilience and development across Somerset. By supporting projects that strengthen local connections, improve wellbeing, and make the most of new opportunities, Somerset Community Foundation aims to ensure that the benefits of Hinkley Point C are shared widely and felt long into the future.
