Deadline: 12-Dec-2025

The Public Trust is now accepting applications for its New Zealand Communities Growth Trust Contestable Grant Round.

This round is available every other year and for 2025 is inviting eligible organisations to submit their applications during the specified window. It is aimed at organisations registered with Charities Services or incorporated societies that deliver services or operate projects within New Zealand that align with the mission of the Trust.

The Trust’s purpose is focused on therapeutic and counselling services, education and public-benefit projects. For example, organisations providing professional counselling to people who have experienced institutional, cult or spiritual-community abuse may apply. Education efforts might include programmes that develop counselling skills, life skills, or enable disadvantaged individuals to uplift their quality of life in sustainable ways. Public benefit initiatives could encompass community living models, environmental sustainability, or support for communities that foster cooperation and respect.

For organisations considering applying, it’s important to review the eligibility criteria carefully and plan a strong submission. Make sure your organisation is properly registered, understands the Trust’s objectives and can clearly describe how the proposed work contributes to therapeutic, educational or public-benefit outcomes. Timeliness and completeness matter: applications must be submitted online within the window and include all required supporting information. This is an opportunity to secure support for work that makes a tangible difference in people’s lives and communities.

Applicants can seize this opportunity to access funding that supports meaningful work with people who have been disadvantaged by cults or spiritual communities, including former residents of the Centrepoint Community Growth Trust in Albany and their children. The Trust gives priority to projects that demonstrate real potential for impact, such as those helping people rebuild their lives, gain new competencies, or assist in their healing journey.
