Request for Proposals: Glenkens and District Community Fund (UK)

Call for Proposals: Supporting Community-Led Solutions for Social Cohesion in Montenegro

Deadline: 11-March-2026

The Foundation Scotland – Glenkens & District Community Fund is a grant-making initiative that supports community projects in Dumfries & Galloway, particularly in the areas surrounding Glenkens.

Aimed at helping local communities become more connected, resilient, and carbon-neutral, the fund draws on contributions from sources such as the Blackcraig and Windy Rig wind farms. Projects that benefit residents living, working and visiting the region are welcome to apply.

Grants range from £500 up to £25,000 for standard projects, with multi-year awards possible for up to £75,000 (capped at £25,000 per year) for more extensive initiatives. For larger grant amounts exceeding £25,000, a two-stage enquiry process applies.

The fund prioritises projects that align with themes articulated in the local Community Action Plan. These include building a connected community, enhancing local assets (natural, built and human), boosting a flourishing economy, and supporting a shift toward a carbon-neutral community. The aim is to encourage projects that are imaginative, outward-looking, sustainable and embedded in local partnership working. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate long-term impact, use of local suppliers, collaborative models and realistic paths to self-sufficiency.

The Glenkens & District Community Fund provides a valuable opportunity for community groups, charitable organisations and social enterprises within the specified areas to access meaningful financial support for initiatives that strengthen local life and environment. With a clear purpose, generous funding potential and a focus on community-led change, this fund can help bring quality initiatives to life in the Glenkens region.
