Deadline: 24-Sep-2025
The Royal Academy of Engineering is inviting applications for its Ingenious Public Engagement Grant Scheme. This program supports projects that connect engineers with the public and provide engineers with training and opportunities to develop public engagement skills.
The goal is to support creative projects that raise awareness about engineering’s diversity, nature, and impact. The scheme aims to broaden perceptions of engineering and reach audiences currently underrepresented in the field. It also focuses on building capacity in public engagement by training engineers and giving them chances to practice these skills.
Grants range from £3,000 to £30,000, inclusive of VAT. Projects should start after May 1, 2026, and finish by July 31, 2027, for school audiences, or August 31, 2027, for families or community groups.
Applicants must be UK residents affiliated with the lead organization. All projects must engage the general public, not current or former engineering students or professionals. Engineers involved must be UK-based and have graduate-level qualifications or equivalent. Apprentices and engineering technicians may also participate, but projects involving only undergraduates or only apprentices are not eligible.
Lead applicants must be over 18 years old. While young people cannot be lead applicants due to grant terms, they can be listed as co-applicants. The scheme encourages innovative projects that place engineering at the heart of public interest and engagement.
