Deadline: 01-Sep-2025
The Cambridgeshire Community Foundation is inviting applications for the Thalia WB Community Fund. This fund is designed to support projects that improve the local environment in Cambridgeshire. Eligible improvements include public buildings, community amenities, natural habitats, and architecturally significant sites.
Grants are available from £10,000 to £50,000, except under Object DA (conservation of species or habitats), where the minimum grant is £5,000. The fund supports three main types of projects: the enhancement of public parks or amenities, conservation of specific species or habitats, and the restoration of places of worship or buildings of historical or architectural importance.
To be eligible, projects must be well developed. Applicants should have detailed cost estimates, secured most of their funding, obtained planning permission if required, and identified potential contractors. Projects must be located in Cambridgeshire and within 10 miles of a licensed landfill site (excluding Peterborough).
Applicants must contribute 11% of the requested grant amount, which is paid to Thalia ODC Ltd to unlock the grant. This contribution must be raised in addition to the overall project budget, and donors should be informed that it is separate from the core funding.
Projects must be able to start within six months of submitting the expression of interest. However, applicants must not make any financial commitments—such as signing contracts—before receiving a formal grant offer. Committing to services in advance will disqualify the project from funding.
All projects must align with Entrust’s approved objectives. Object D covers public parks or amenities that improve the environment’s aesthetic or comfort for the public. Object DA supports the conservation of specific species or habitats in their natural environment. Object E allows for the restoration of places of worship or buildings of historical or architectural value, provided they are accessible to the public and located near a landfill site.
Eligible applicants must be non-profit organizations with the necessary documentation, including a constitution, equal opportunity policy, safeguarding and conflict of interest policies, and an access statement. They must also have an independent management committee and a bank account requiring two independent signatories.
