The Green Community Grants Programme is an exciting opportunity for not-for-profit groups across England, Scotland, and Wales to receive flexible funding that supports local action for nature and sustainability.
The programme is designed to empower communities to make a real difference to their environment while encouraging inclusive and accessible participation in green projects.
Grants of up to £25,000 are available for organisations with an annual income between £10,000 and £1 million. Eligible groups must have been operating for at least 12 months. The funding can support a wide range of initiatives, from wildlife conservation and habitat restoration to community recycling schemes, beach cleans, and efforts to promote sustainable transport.
The programme focuses on two key themes: nature recovery in response to the climate emergency, and improving nature-rich spaces and public access to them. Whether a group is planting wildflowers to support pollinators or enhancing a local park for public enjoyment, the aim is to create long-lasting benefits for both people and the planet.
Priority will be given to smaller organisations with an income of £250,000 or less, those working in economically disadvantaged areas, and groups that support marginalised communities, such as disabled people, racially minoritised groups, and LGBTQ+ individuals. The programme seeks to ensure that support reaches those who need it most and who may otherwise face barriers to funding.
