ONUFEMMES, as an entity of the United Nations for gender equality and the empowerment of women, is looking for firm partners or even consultants for the women’s empowerment project.
ONUFEMMES project aims to support female entrepreneurship in all potentially promising sectors such as castor, honey, cocoa, fishing and small processing (soaps, peanut paste, ground corn) through impactful investments, catalyst and capacity building of women producer organizations in the departments of South, Nippes and Grand ‘Anse.
All these activities are closely linked to the objectives of the FADEKA project which aims to strengthen rural women’s associations in the southern region with a view to becoming more resilient to climate shocks.
Description of Activities
- Conduct training series for the benefit of 3,000 members of 30 women’s associations targeted in the southern region on the following themes:
- Climate change and smart agriculture
- Suitable soil types, seeds and or fruit trees and various root combinations
- Seed diversification and promotion of local crops resilient to extreme climate impacts such as drought and flooding,
- Nutrition and food safety
- Garden Yard
- Livestock management
- Organized workshop for women’s chamber of commerce and women producers to discuss and agree on innovations and strategies that can help rural women.
- Organization of training sessions for 500 women on entrepreneurship, agriculture as a business, links with agriculture-related services, financing of agricultural activities.
- Creation of three women’s networks with the main aim of leading on gender in peace, humanitarian and development at the community level.
- Identification and awareness-raising of women’s associations needing knowledge regarding food storage
- Conduct an awareness campaign over a period of 3 months to reach the 3 targeted areas of the project, particularly on reducing the impact of climate change and natural disasters
- Conduct an analysis of the socio-economic context including a mapping of existing value-added markets and financing mechanisms (interviews, focus groups, etc.), production of the report with recommendations and developed strategic/action plan;
- Develop a strategy, based on the analysis, and formulate a plan to strengthen the capacities of women and their cooperatives/organizations, to facilitate partnerships to be established in the interest of women, for equal access to markets, financing;
- Identification and awareness-raising of women’s associations with critical storage needs in their business or maintenance of their storage system;
- Distribution of silos to women’s groups as a better storage system to prevent post-harvest losses through a grant with a local partner;
- Organization of awareness campaigns around climate change due to one campaign per department targeting more than 1,500 people per department.
Methodologies
The selected partner will be responsible for:
- Preparation and submission of training modules;
- Facilitating training sessions
- Preparing an activity budget
- Preparation of activity reports;
- UN WOMEN for its part will have the responsibilities of:
- Fully finance activity-related costs
- Validate the training modules as well as the calendars proposed by the selected partner;
- Validate the budgets proposed by partners for the implementation of a given activity
- Mobilize women’s associations and others affected by the activities
Expected Results
- Strengthening 30 women’s associations in terms of training on themes sensitive to their productivity.
- Training of 3,000 women from the southern departments of Grand Anse and Nippes on related themes to the agricultural sector;
- The women trained have become more resilient to the effects of climate change and the effects of natural disasters.
- 500 women are trained on entrepreneurship and agriculture as a key sector on which the economic empowerment of rural women can be based;
- Creating women’s networks
- Awareness campaigns on the impact of climate change

Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for this call for proposals, the partner must:
- Not be an institution included in the list of the Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council;
- Be a legal entity authorized to operate in Haiti
- Have no profit motive;
- Have a valid authorization to work in Haiti issued by a Haitian institution competent;
- Proof of programming experience in the intervention area over the last 3 years;
- Have direct responsibility for the preparation and management of the action and not act as an organization intermediate
- Demonstrate management experience of at least 60% of the amount requested;
- Demonstrate relevant experience in one of the sectors of the call for proposals and capacity building of cooperatives and women’s organizations involved in agricultural production and/or processing;
- Experience in implementing participatory strategies;
- Master the principles and tools of results-based management.
- Be specialized in the facilitation of training sessions on themes related to agriculture, food security and nutrition.
- A good understanding of the mandate of UN WOMEN in the economic empowerment of women;
