CSO support for the implementation of the Women’s Empowerment Support Project (Senegal)

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has launched the call for proposals for the Women’s Empowerment Support Project.

Objective

• The objective of this call for proposals is to select a civil society organization responsible for training and supporting 80 women entrepreneurs in the agribusiness sector aged 18 to 50 from rural and peri-urban areas in the regions of Louga, Kaolack, Thiès, Fatick, Matam, Kolda and Ziguinchor on strengthening the entrepreneurial capacities of participants (growth strategies, diversification, marketing, etc.).
• The initiative has three specific objectives:
  • Strengthen the entrepreneurial capacities of participants (growth strategies, diversification, marketing);
    • Supporting the development of women’s general entrepreneurship skills
    • Support financing and access to modern tools needed for expansion;
    • Connecting women’s businesses to national and international markets;
    • Support beneficiaries with role models (successful entrepreneurs from various sectors and backgrounds) to ensure the sustainability of their initiatives;
  • Strengthening leadership and communication skills
  • Strengthening the participation and leadership capacities of women in their communities of origin
  • Promoting a better understanding of gender equality and the prevention of GBV
  • Carry out a light impact study on the beneficiaries at the end of the project

Funding Information

• Proposal amounts should be up to a maximum of USD 50,000 for direct interventions in a single community/activity or geographic area.

Duration

• The duration of the project will not exceed 6 months.

Expected Results

• It is expected that the 80 women selected (at the national level, and primarily from the regions of Louga, Kaolack, Thiès, Fatick, Matam, Kolda and Ziguinchor) will have the tools to position themselves in local governance bodies (associations, neighborhood councils, etc.), and contribute to efforts to promote gender equality and prevent gender-based violence (GBV) in their respective communities.

Eligibility Criteria

• An NGO/CSO may submit a proposal. The title of the proposal must clearly mention the title of the call for proposals.
• The NGO/CSO must have a legal existence in the form of a non-profit association and Senegalese law or recognized by the government attested by official operating documents and recognition at the national/regional level;
• The NGO/CSO must not to appear on their list of the organizations related at terrorism, at whitening of money or any other fact deemed incompatible with the values of the United Nations (Failure to comply with this criterion automatically results in disqualification);
• The NGO/CSO must provide the following administrative documents:
  • Up-to-date tax identification card or equivalent document;
  • Notarial status, Internal Regulations and procedures manual;
  • The organization’s 2023 and 2024 annual reports;
  • List of similar projects/activities implemented by the organization and their added value (contributions/impacts).
