Deadline: 01-Dec-2025
The Greenwich Neighbourhood Growth Fund (GNGF) is now open for applications, offering a significant opportunity for local organisations to secure funding for community improvement projects.
With £1 million available in this funding round, the programme aims to support projects that directly address the pressures and needs created by development in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
Funded through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), the GNGF allocates 15% of the levy collected from local development to be reinvested into neighbourhoods. The goal is to ensure that as the borough grows, local infrastructure keeps pace and continues to meet the needs of its residents. This funding is divided across four neighbourhood zones, and projects will be matched to a zone based on their physical location.
Eligible organisations can apply for grants ranging from £2,500 to £35,000. Applications are welcomed from registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations, social enterprises, community interest companies, not-for-profit businesses without share capital, and schools. All applicants must demonstrate a strong community focus and the ability to deliver infrastructure projects that create long-term benefits.
The fund prioritises initiatives that invest in new or improved infrastructure, rather than ongoing service delivery. Examples of successful past projects include the refurbishment of community centres, installation of new play areas, and environmental enhancements such as greening public spaces. Proposals that improve access to or enhance community facilities are particularly encouraged.
To be competitive, projects must clearly show how they address the impact of local development, benefit a broad cross-section of the community, and offer value for money. They should be well-planned, ready to begin upon approval, and must not create ongoing costs for the council.
