Deadline: 05-Oct-2025
The Food and Agriculture Organization Ghana is pleased to launch a national Photo Contest under the theme: “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future – Behind the Plate.”
The contest invites photos showcasing farmers, fishers, pastoralists, and food producers at work, as well as traditional and innovative practices that sustain Ghana’s food systems. Entries may also capture markets, food preparation, and shared meals that bring communities together, along with the environmental and climate-related aspects of food production. Photographs can celebrate achievements, highlight challenges, or present creative solutions.
Winners will receive certificates of recognition, FAO and partner merchandise packs, and their work will be featured on FAO Ghana’s social media and website. The winners will be announced on World Food Day, 16 October 2025, with a dedicated awards ceremony to follow.
The contest is open to all Ghanaians aged 18 years and above, encouraging both professionals and non-professionals to participate. However, FAO employees, their immediate family members, and individuals living in the same household are not eligible. Participants can submit up to five high-resolution digital images, each accompanied by a caption of no more than 100 words that describes the subject, location, and its relation to the theme.
Entries must be submitted via email with the subject line “FAO Ghana Photo Contest 2025 Submission.” To ensure fairness and integrity, only original photographs will be accepted, and entries must be free of copyright issues. AI-generated images or heavily manipulated composites are not allowed, though minor edits such as cropping or adjustments in brightness and contrast are permitted. Images should not contain watermarks, dates, or overlaid text, and photographers must obtain consent from identifiable individuals included in their work.
All entries will be evaluated by a jury comprising FAO staff, development partners, and professional photographers. Submissions will be judged on their relevance to the theme, visual impact and storytelling, technical quality, and accompanying caption. Application closes on 5 October 2025.
