The Jim Joseph Foundation is currently seeking proposals for its Cohort-Based Educator Professional Development Programs in Jewish Education. This program will also offer a Community of Practice for the directors of each of the professional development programs funded through this pilot. Funding will support up to ten three-year grants to institutions that provide ongoing cohort-based professional development and training to a select group of Jewish educators serving teens, college students, young adults and/or families with young children (ages 0-5).
Priority Areas
The Foundation’s grantmaking fits within three strategic priorities:
- Increase the number and quality of Jewish educators and education leaders
- Expand opportunities for effective Jewish learning
- Build a strong field for Jewish learning
Grants Available
Up to ten three-year grants ranging between $300,000-$700,000 per year will be awarded in early fall 2017.
Eligibility Criteria
The Foundation welcomes proposals for programs that:
- Provide in-service training for a minimum of 10 individual Jewish educators serving learners from one or more of the Jim Joseph Foundation’s target age populations: teens, college students, young adults, and families with young children ages 0-5.
- Offer degree/credential or non-degree professional development programs.
- Provide an ongoing learning experience for current educators.
- Apply best practices in program design and training.
- Include both planning and implementation activities.
- May or may not be a previous or current grantee of the Jim Joseph Foundation.
Organizations with 501(c)(3) status will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Proposed program aligns with the objectives stated above.
- Organizations have shown leadership in the Jewish education space, and ability to execute the program proposed.
- Proposed program addresses a demonstrated need, and is aligned with the mission of the organization.
- Financial stability of the organizations.
- Evidence of strong professional and lay leadership.
