Open Call: India-UK Publishing Fellowship Programme

Top 2025 US Embassy Grants & Partnership Opportunities You Can't Miss!

Deadline: 31-Oct-2025

The British Council and Jaipur BookMark, in association with the Jaipur Literature Festival, invites independent publishers from India and the UK to apply for the India–UK Publishing Fellowship 2026.

Recognizing the significance of this moment in time, the India-UK Publishing Fellowship seeks to bring together independent publishers from both countries to spread the seeds of diversity and grow a harvest of plenty that enables dialogue and nurtures professional growth.

Support international exchange between independent publishers in India and the UK. Strengthen the landscape for literature in translation. Build professional capacity through curated exposure and networking. Encourage innovative and inclusive publishing practices and diverse representation. Promote cross-cultural dialogue through public and industry engagement.

This fellowship offers a unique opportunity for one independent publisher from India and one from the UK to participate in a curated programme of professional development and networking at Jaipur BookMark 2026 and the London Book Fair 2026.

Fellows will receive return airfare, visa fee reimbursement, accommodation, per diem in London, and on-site meals at Jaipur, along with access passes to both festivals. While travel insurance, personal expenses, and local airport transfers in their home country must be covered by the Fellows, the fellowship ensures that all other major costs are taken care of.

At Jaipur BookMark, Fellows will engage in a dedicated session on cross-cultural publishing, translation, and collaboration, while also benefiting from access to discussions, roundtables, and networking with translators, booksellers, authors, and industry leaders. They will also be part of the Jaipur Literature Festival experience, with entry to cultural evenings, the Speaker’s Lounge, and music events.

The London Book Fair programme will provide Fellows with curated meetings, networking opportunities, and industry seminars. They may also be invited to join panel discussions. The London segment encourages Fellows to pursue professional connections aligned with their publishing interests and expand their engagement with the global literary community.

Eligibility requires applicants to have at least five years of publishing experience, be affiliated with independent publishing houses, and focus on publishing translations and new voices. Applicants should also demonstrate editorial vision, openness to innovation, and a commitment to collaboration between India and the UK. Publishers working in underrepresented languages or regions, from diverse or marginalised communities, or who have not previously participated in international fellowships are especially encouraged to apply.

The Fellows will be selected through an open-call process, with final results announced on 20 November 2025. Selected participants are expected to engage fully in both programme segments, participate in public discussions, contribute to press and promotional activities, and submit a reflective report within a month of completion.
