Report on Rural Development and Food Security Workshop in Latin America

Community Food Projects Competitive Grant Program (US)

Deadline: 29-May-2023

The Thomson Reuters Foundation is inviting journalists from Latin America to register for this workshop, which will cover topics such as food security, food production, indigenous peoples, markets and climate.

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) of the United Nations is sponsoring this course, which will build experience and increase awareness of the issues facing rural communities, help journalists present new points of view, and promote debate on how small-scale farming can responding to the growing demand for food and on the essential need to support rural transformation as food insecurity, climate change and economic uncertainty intensify.

Participating will give you access to IFAD’s leading experts, who are studying how to address the challenges of climate change, food security and production issues, in a context of rising prices and economic consequences of COVID-19 and problems of world sourcing. You will have the opportunity to interview them about the problems of their country.

It is not an isolated act. They hope that all journalists who attend will continue to write about these issues in their home countries after the workshop.
