Deadline: 21-Jul-2025

The Community Mental Health Framework for Young Adults and Older Adults (CMHF) is transforming how NHS community mental health services are delivered. It emphasizes collaboration between health services and community organizations, placing individuals who use the services at the heart of care planning and support.

Within this model, mental health care for older people (OPMH) is integrated throughout all adult mental health goals set out in the Long Term Plan. This includes improved access to NHS Talking Therapies, better community support for individuals with Severe Mental Illness (SMI), and enhanced crisis and liaison services.

The grant program under CMHF prioritizes projects that support older adults aged 65 and above with SMI. Special focus is given to initiatives serving underrepresented communities such as Muslim and Eastern European populations, asylum seekers, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, those with substance use challenges, Travelling Communities, veterans, and those in rural or farming areas.

Grants available range from £1,000 to £20,000. Funding can be used for a variety of needs including equipment, capital improvements, training, projects, events, staffing, and overheads (up to 10% of the total grant).

However, funding will not be provided for religious projects that promote religion, nor for overhead costs exceeding 10% of the grant. Limited companies are not eligible, but organizations that are limited by guarantee and are also registered charities may apply.

Eligible applicants include constituted voluntary or community groups, registered charities, and social enterprises. Those who are awarded grants must register their organization on platforms like Find local support in Shropshire, Shropshire Together Community Directory, or Home Live Well Telford.

To apply, organizations must submit a governing document, their most recent accounts, a recent bank statement, a safeguarding policy, and at least three quotes for any capital items requested in the grant.
