Deadline: 27-Oct-2025
The York Community Fund has been established through a partnership between Two Ridings Community Foundation, City of York Council, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, York CVS and York Together to strengthen York’s voluntary and community groups with grants that support purposeful community action and create a sense of belonging.
The fund’s priorities include Affordability and cost of living, Climate action, Equalities and Human Rights, and Health and wellbeing. These focus areas aim to tackle the cost-of-living issues, reduce food and fuel poverty, encourage climate and environmental improvements, promote equality, diversity, and inclusion, and enhance community health and social connections through mentoring, advocacy, and skills development.
The York Community Fund offers Micro Grants of up to £1,000, to be spent over a 12-month period, with approximately 20 grants expected to be awarded. The grants aim to support small, locally based organisations that address community needs under the fund’s key priorities. Projects may include initiatives that help residents manage personal budgets, promote walking and cycling for better health, provide culturally inclusive programs, or offer counselling, befriending, and parenting support.
Eligible applicants are organisations with a turnover of under £500,000 and charitable aims, based in and serving residents of the City of York. The fund is particularly intended for small organisations where modest financial support can make a substantial difference. Organisations with significantly high reserves, where those funds could reasonably be used for the proposed activities, are less likely to be funded.
Through this funding, the York Community Fund continues to empower local organisations, enabling them to deliver meaningful community-based projects that build resilience, inclusion, and collective wellbeing across the city.
