Woodsmith Foundation launches Community Grants in the UK

Grant Competition: Support for Polish Communities in the area of activating Civic Attitudes

Deadline: 16-Jul-2025

The Woodsmith Foundation has launched its Community Grants program to support a variety of organisations working to create positive change in their communities. The focus area includes the Borough of Redcar and Cleveland, the Borough of Scarborough, and the North York Moors National Park.

Grants will be awarded to projects that align with the Foundation’s priority of increasing opportunities and addressing disadvantage. Organisations can apply for grants ranging from £200 to £10,000. The total funding pool for 2025 is expected to be £180,000, spread across three grant rounds. Each organisation may only apply once in a 12-month period.

Eligible projects should aim to increase life opportunities, improve lives and places, or address issues that negatively affect local communities. The Foundation is also interested in initiatives that bring people together and enhance lives through local resources, activities, or community action.

The types of organisations that can apply include local constituted voluntary groups, registered charities and CIOs, CICs limited by guarantee, Parish and Town Councils, faith organisations offering secular activities for the wider community, and school-related voluntary groups. In some cases, companies limited by guarantee with charitable objectives may be considered, but only once and after detailed checks.

However, the Foundation will not support applications from individuals, private businesses, CICs limited by shares, local authorities other than Parish or Town Councils, or organisations lacking at least two unrelated board members or bank signatories.
