Deadline: 12 December 2025
The CCAC Challenge seeks to accelerate eCooking uptake in Africa to reduce health and climate impacts, empower women and communities, and to unlock economic opportunities across the clean cooking value chain.
The initiative is designed to boost the adoption of electric cooking (eCooking) technologies across eligible African countries, with the aim of reducing indoor pollution, improving health outcomes, and contributing to climate change mitigation.
The estimated project cost for initiatives under this programme is $2,000,000. The call is open to non‑profit organisations including NGOs, IGOs, and public institutions operating in ODA‑eligible African countries. Projects should tackle at least three of several key focus areas, such as developing locally appropriate eCooking technologies, strengthening infrastructure and energy access for cooking, designing financial inclusion and affordability models, and empowering women and promoting behaviour change around clean cooking.
Successful applications will be part of a collaborative and scalable project with a clear demonstrated impact on climate, health, and gender. Proposals must show how the transition from polluting fuels to electric cooking will bring measurable benefits, and how the project can be replicated or scaled in the future. Applicants are encouraged to form consortiums, include local partners, and engage the private sector where appropriate.
Projects must be completed within a defined timeframe of less than 24 months and adhere to the budget and gender criteria set by the Coalition. This is a timely opportunity for organisations working in energy access, clean cooking, women’s empowerment, or climate resilience in Africa to expand their work and drive systemic change in household energy practices.
