The Council of Europe has announced the special call to support projects within the 2022 youth campaign for revitalizing democracy.
The Youth campaign for revitalising democracy will run throughout the Council of Europe member states during the period from March to October 2022. It aims at strengthening young people’s role in the process of revitalising participatory democracy and restoring mutual trust between young people and democratic institutions and processes.
The campaign will focus on three key themes: revitalisation of democracy, meaningful youth participation and digitalisation.
In the framework of the campaign, local, national and international activities will take place allowing young people, youth workers, youth organisations and youth policy institutions to shape the themes, the content and the outcomes of the campaign in the spirit of participatory democracy.
The EYF does not support individuals. It only supports non-governmental youth organisations.
What they Support?
- Council of Europe priorities: In order to obtain the EYF’s support, it is essential that your project falls within the Council of Europe’s values and work, and the priorities of the Youth Sector.
- International activity: International meeting in Europe which contributes to the work of the youth sector of the Council of Europe in topic, methodology and with a clear European dimension.
- Annual work plan: It is a set of successive activities over a period of one year, interconnected and which contribute to the same broader aim. Should be in line with what you do and want to achieve.
- Structural grant: The EYF offers two types of structural grants: structural grant for 2 consecutive years and one-off grant. These are grants for general administrative costs.
- Pilot activity: A pilot activity should be an “intervention”, i.e. an activity addressing a contextual societal challenge affecting young people at local level. It should also be based on innovation or on replication.
- Grant decisions: The Programming Committee on Youth is the co-managed body of the Council of Europe’s youth sector that takes decisions on all grant applications submitted to the EYF (international activities, annual work plans, structural grants and pilot activities).
- Examples of supported projects: The European Youth Foundation supports youth projects in line with the Council of Europe’s values and work. Here are some examples of EYF-supported projects dealing with the following themes:
- Participation/Gender equality/Diversity/Roma
- No Hate Speech Movement
- Migrants/Refugees/
- Peacebuilding
Conditions
To be eligible to EYF funding, the application must concern activities that:
- are organised in the framework of the 2022 youth campaign;
- take place in a Council of Europe member state;
- have a clear link to one or more of the key themes of the campaign: revitalisatin of democracy, meaningful youth participation and digitalisation;
- start between March and October 2022, with six months of execution time at most.
