CFAs: Contingency Partnerships with UNICEF for Emergency Preparedness and Response (Mozambique)

Deadline: 04-Nov-2025

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund has launched a Call for Expression of Interest to establish contingency partnerships for emergency preparedness and response in Mozambique.

The initiative spans multiple provinces, including Cabo Delgado, Niassa, Nampula, Zambezia, Tete, Manica, Sofala, Inhambane, Gaza, and Maputo, with the goal of ensuring that children and their families—particularly the most vulnerable—have equitable, inclusive, and resilient access to essential services.

The partnership focuses on multiple cross-sectoral areas such as communication for development, gender equality, youth participation, disability inclusion, conflict sensitivity, emergency response, and disaster risk reduction. It will also cover key sectors including education, health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and environment, with an emphasis on integrated service delivery that meets urgent needs while building long-term resilience.

The initiative’s expected results include the rapid provision of life-saving services in the aftermath of natural disasters, conflicts, or health emergencies, as well as the delivery of inclusive health, nutrition, protection, and WASH interventions. These efforts will prioritize vulnerable households, ensuring that children with disabilities and girls receive adequate support and access to services in schools, health facilities, and communities.

In addition, the partnership will promote behaviour change and skills development to help families and caregivers adopt healthier practices and hold community leaders and service providers accountable. It will also strengthen the capacity of government and local authorities to deliver sustainable and inclusive basic services while improving their preparedness and response mechanisms to future crises.

By collecting and analysing gender-, age-, and disability-disaggregated data, the initiative aims to enhance evidence-based decision-making and ensure that humanitarian responses in Mozambique remain equitable, inclusive, and effective across all sectors.
