Request for Proposals: Community Print Funding Program (South Africa)

Call for Applications: AL-Invest Green Program 2025

Deadline: 01-Aug-2025

The Community Print Funding Program is aimed at supporting organisations that are owned by or focused on youth, women, and persons with disabilities across all nine provinces of South Africa. Despite the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) making notable strides in transforming the country’s media landscape, many communities and special interest groups remain underserved by mainstream outlets.

This funding opportunity seeks to close those gaps by prioritising publications that operate in indigenous languages and serve rural and historically marginalised communities. The goal is to promote equitable access to information and ensure more inclusive media representation.

Only organisations based in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Free State, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, North West, Mpumalanga, and Northern Cape are eligible to apply. Any applications from outside these provinces will be declined.

To apply, organisations must submit a certified copy of their registration documents, a valid tax clearance certificate, and audited or reviewed financial statements from the previous year. These financials must be certified by an independent accountant or auditor. Applicants must also submit an affidavit confirming that the organisation is not owned or controlled by commercial media entities, political parties, or the government.

A detailed budget request using the MDDA’s downloadable Excel template is required, along with a business plan that includes three-year financial projections, also following the prescribed template. Applicants must provide a sample of their media product or a URL if it’s digital, and supply analytics reports (like Google Analytics) showing platform performance for the past six to twelve months.

Finally, applications must include the CVs of up to four key personnel and a valid BEE certificate.
