Deadline: 08-Sep-2025
The Kent County Council is now offering grants ranging from £5,000 to £10,000 to support perinatal mental health peer support groups aimed at expectant or new mothers in Kent who identify with protected characteristics including young parents, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, and sexual orientation.
These grants are available to local, legally registered organisations across all 12 districts of Kent. The objective of the programme is to help mothers feel more confident engaging with the health system, gain better awareness of mental health services, know how to access support, and foster strong connections with other new mothers. Grant recipients are required to use validated tools—such as the GAD-7, PHQ-9, or WEMWBS—to track mental health and wellbeing outcomes. Organisations with smaller funding needs are encouraged to reach out, as alternatives to full grants may be available.
Eligible applicants must be based in Kent, legally constituted, rely at least partly on volunteers, and propose projects that have not yet begun.
This grant opportunity represents an important effort to bolster emotional support systems for vulnerable new mothers, strengthening both their wellbeing and community ties during the perinatal period.
To apply for this grant, your organisation must be a legally registered entity, such as a charity or a business. It must be based in the administrative area of Kent County Council and deliver its services either partly or entirely with the help of volunteers. In addition, applicants must ensure the proposed project is not already complete or underway at the time of application.
