The Garden of Hope Foundation (GOH) has run the Asian Girls Campaign (AGC), placing emphasis on empowerment and education as core values to uplift girls. Building on this legacy, they are delighted to announce the second run of the ‘Asian Girls in Action Project’, a new and innovative program launched in 2023.
The aim of the program is to provide support to girls aged 15-19 in accomplishing projects aligned with at least one of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Their goal is to equip participants with the skills and mindset necessary to emerge as leaders for the next generation.
Project Activities Description
- To provide participants with the necessary skills to implement their project, the GOH has partnered with iEARN Taiwan to deliver project-based learning (PBL) workshops to participants, offered through both online and in-person sessions. The workshops aim to guide fellows in refining their project proposals. Additionally, participants are invited to join a week-long program (Power Camp) visiting Taiwan in July, where they will engage and co-create with their PBL peers, as well as gain insight into Taiwan’s culture and the initiatives aimed at empowering girls.
- Following the preparatory phase, participants will put their projects into action in August, supported by a budget provided by the GOH. This ‘try-out period’ is an opportunity for participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills, with the aim of furthering their long-term goals.
- After completing the August ‘try-out period’, participants will be required to host a presentation in their local communities in September. This presentation should serve as a reflective account of their journey, highlighting the lessons learned and detailing how they plan to incorporate these experiences into their future plans. The program will conclude with a final online presentation in October, during which professional judges will assess and select three outstanding projects as the Annual SDG Projects. The GOH will provide additional funding to the chosen projects to boost the development of their initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible participants: Girls aged 15 to 19 who are based in any Asian country.
- Participants must have an interest in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and a strong commitment to leading SDG projects.
- GOH is looking especially for projects that offer a fresh and innovative perspective on the 17 SDGs. The project should be designed with the aim of enhancing the participant’s leadership skills.
- Applications with projects that include plans to involve influential guests and secure project media exposure in the participant’s country/community will be favorably considered.
- Each participant must be backed by a registered organization/school as a chaperone to meet legal requirements. The chaperones will be the main contact people during the application process. Also, they will need to provide the necessary support to participants during the program, and must be able to accompany the participants to Taiwan.

- Support Offered: Alongside the comprehensive training offered in PBL workshops, GOH will cover expenses for the visiting tour to Taiwan – including the round-trip flight fare, accommodation, meals, transportation in Taiwan, visa fees, and travel insurance – for both the participant and the chaperones. Additionally, each participant will receive a grant as funding for their project try-outs.
