Call for Submissions: ENFIELD 4th Exchange Scheme

Submit Applications for Small Research Grant Program 2025 (Indonesia)

Deadline: 31-Oct-2025

The ENFIELD is accepting applications to fund mobility-based research exchanges for individual researchers through its 4th Exchange Scheme Open Call, also known as TES#4.

The main objective is to address specific scientific and technological challenges in AI, focusing on the development of Green, Adaptive, Human-Centric, and Trustworthy AI. These research efforts are to be applied across industrial domains such as Energy, Manufacturing, and Space.

Foundational Research Challenges – Green AI: Technological Symbioses and Rebound Effects with AI  Green AI Indexing for Efficient Image and Point Cloud Retrieval  Energy-Efficient Multi-Agent AI for Code Generation in Digital Twin Understanding  How Green is Physics-Informed Machine Learning?

Adaptive AI: AI-Enhanced Visual Understanding for Inspection and Maintenance  Efficient Continual Learning Systems  Lifelong Learning and Fine-tuning in LLMs  Flexible plastics sorting system based on the combination of multiple vision sensors and adaptive AI  Batch pattern mining in industrial signals

Human-centric AI: Empowering Human-AI Decision-Making through Real-Time User Modeling Interpretability and uncertainty in predictive models  Human-Centric Explainable AI for Critical Digital Infrastructure Human-Centered Causal Machine Learning for Real-World Decision Support  Explainable AI Methods for Human-AI Decision Making

Trustworthy: AI Security and Robustness of AI systems  Privacy and Compliance of AI systems  AI in Distributed systems  Enhancing User Trust in AI-powered Chatbots using UB Trustworthy ML based scheduling for the energy domain Unified approach to assess safety and security of AI systems LLM Safety and Security

Energy: AI for Green Energy curtailment minimization Explainable fault detection and classification in power grids Combine AI with LLM for clear human interaction with complex data LLM based data queries and visualization

Manufacturing: Adversarial Robustness Metrics and Evaluation for AI-Driven Safety Systems Bias-aware People Detection: Quantifying and Mitigating Dataset and Model Biases Towards Safety Certification Explainable Uncertainty-Aware Decision-Making for AI Systems in Manufacturing Multimodal AI for Human-State Monitoring IDM-Egocentric perception for shop-floor operators

Space: Detection of potential water illegal abstractions using Artificial Intelligence and Earth Observation Causal Machine Learning model to identify agricultural practices aiding in yield productivity improvement using Earth Observation (EO) data Advancing Eelgrass Monitoring Using Stationary High-Altitude Balloons and Hyperspectral AI-based Earth Observations Enhancing natural disaster response through satellite-based earth observation and language models.

The call is open to researchers or groups of two researchers from EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries. Eligible applicants include PhD candidates, post-docs, and senior researchers who are employed at a university, research center, or business entity in Europe. The exchange projects are short-term, lasting from 3 to 6 months. Selected researchers will have the opportunity to conduct top-level research and network with experts. The program offers financial support of up to €14,400, which is a monthly mobility allowance of €2,400 for up to 6 months. The deadline for application is 31 October 2025.
