Open Call for CSO to Implement Voter Education Campaign and Awareness Program (Maldives)

MEST Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship - Ghana

Deadline: 12-Aug-2025

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is inviting applications from national NGOs and civil society organizations in the Maldives to provide technical support for a voter education and governance campaign. This initiative aims to promote informed citizenship and civic engagement.

With support from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the UNDP is launching a civic education campaign to raise public awareness, foster democratic participation, and encourage inclusive civic values throughout the Maldives. This Call for Proposals is part of the UNDP Maldives Integrated Governance Programme III.

The initiative will support two locally registered CSOs to carry out a voter education and advocacy campaign on a governance issue of their choice. The program should aim to enhance understanding of democratic processes, human rights, and civic duties, while also encouraging inclusive participation in public life. It will specifically target diverse communities, with a focus on young people, including those with disabilities.

Applicants are expected to conduct an online voter education campaign reaching at least 500 viewers. Proposals should not exceed MVR 300,000 and must reflect the organization’s ability to manage both the budget and the implementation effectively. The project duration is limited to 10 months, concluding by July 2026 depending on the contract start date.

Eligible proposals must focus on reaching youth, women and girls, vulnerable socioeconomic groups, and individuals with disabilities. They should also include a broader governance awareness component targeting the general public.

To qualify, NGOs and CSOs must be currently active and registered in the Maldives. They should have a capable and dedicated project team and be ready to commit to the 10-month implementation period. Applications must follow the criteria outlined in the UNDP’s Request for Information (RFI) and Capacity Assessment Checklist (CACHE). Only organizations meeting these requirements will be considered for funding.
