RFAs: Modelling of Early Childhood Education and Primary Education in Northern Samar (Philippines)

MEST Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship - Ghana

Deadline: 15-Jul-2025

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund is accepting grant applications for a project focused on modeling early childhood and primary education in Northern Samar.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance early childhood development and improve learning outcomes for children aged 3 to 8 years. The project aims to increase school enrollment and overall development levels among children in 21 barangays and 7 municipalities.

By the end of School Year 2025–2026, the percentage of children aged 3 to 8 enrolled in each of the barangays is expected to show an increase compared to baseline data from the previous year. Specific age groups targeted include children aged 3–4, 5, and 6–8 years.

The project also aims to improve child development indicators. For children aged 3–4, at least 60% in each barangay and 25% in each municipality should exhibit average or above-average development. For 5-year-olds, improvements are expected in every barangay and in at least 40% of the municipalities.

Learning outcomes for Grade 1 to 3 students are also a focus. The goal is to achieve at least a 15% improvement in reading skills and a 10% improvement in numeracy across the seven municipalities.

The indicative budget for this project is $157,000 and it will be implemented across various locations in the Philippines, specifically in Eastern and Western Visayas.
