Deadline: 16-Sep-2025
The City of Clarence is inviting applications for its Environment and Biodiversity Grants. These grants are aimed at supporting local communities and volunteer groups in sustainably managing and enhancing the natural environment.
There are two levels of funding available. Level 1 provides grants up to $5,000, while Level 2 offers support from $5,000 to $10,000 (excluding GST). The funding is designed to support one-off events, activities, or projects that align with council priorities and contribute to environmental sustainability.
Projects may include skill development and capacity-building initiatives such as community workshops or relevant training. However, operational costs like consumables, memberships, and insurance are not eligible. The program will not support commercial ventures, activities that have already started, or projects already run by the City of Clarence.
Eligible applicants include incorporated or auspiced organisations, community or resident groups, not-for-profits, registered charities, and school groups. Unincorporated groups may still apply if they have an incorporated organisation auspicing the project.
To be considered, applications must be complete, submitted within the grant period, and authorised by a representative of the organisation. The activity must take place within the Clarence municipality or benefit the Clarence community. Only one application is allowed per round, and applicants must not have outstanding obligations to the Council from previous grants.
If the project involves children or youth under 18, it must align with the Child and Youth Safe Framework under the 2023 Act. Applicants must not have received support through the Rosny Farm Arts Centre annual Exhibition Program for the same activity and should discuss any project intended for Rosny Farm with the City Culture team.
Applicants are required to hold appropriate insurance and have sound health, safety, and risk management policies. Ineligible applicants include government agencies, organisations with gaming machines, political parties, or entities focused on political lobbying. Council employees and councillors must also declare involvement and pass an eligibility conflict assessment.
