Deadline: 17-Oct-2025
The Climate Crisis Fund (CCF) has launched an innovative financing mechanism designed to support communities most at risk of climate-related displacement.
By offering small, fast, and match-funded grants, the fund transforms data-driven insights from the Risk Index for Climate Displacement into tangible, locally led adaptation projects. Functioning within the Climate Mobility Innovation Lab, the CCF bridges the gap between research, financing, and experimentation, ensuring that evidence-based action can be quickly mobilized where it is most urgently needed.
The fund specifically targets initiatives that are often too small to qualify for larger climate financing schemes. By providing rapid and flexible support, CCF enables local actors to address climate threats through quick-impact projects while also catalyzing co-funding from local sources. This model not only accelerates adaptation but also strengthens community ownership, knowledge, and resilience to future risks.
The first call for proposals will open on 1 September 2025, focusing on high-risk hotspots in Indonesia and the Philippines. Eligible locations in Indonesia include Aceh Timur, Bandung, Bandung Barat, and the city of Makassar, while in the Philippines, proposals will be accepted from Catanduanes and Rizal provinces. Grants will range from USD 5,000 to USD 25,000, depending on the applicant’s capacity and ability to secure matching funds.
A broad range of applicants are eligible, including community-based organizations, NGOs, tribal associations, women- and youth-led groups, disability rights organizations, local governments, small businesses, financial service providers, and academic institutions. Partnerships combining two or more types of organizations are also encouraged. All applicants must demonstrate close ties to the target communities and the ability to deliver projects that directly reduce the risk of climate displacement while building local resilience.
This opportunity represents a timely chance for local organizations to secure critical resources for climate adaptation. By linking evidence to action and leveraging local co-financing, the CCF aims to empower vulnerable communities to confront displacement risks with scalable, practical, and sustainable solutions.
