Deadline: 13-Aug-2025

The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) offers three types of grants to support makers and conservators at different stages of their careers. These grants aim to nurture skilled craft professionals across the UK and ensure the future of both contemporary and traditional crafts, as well as the development of innovative techniques.

QEST defines craft as the skilled, hands-on making or the conservation and restoration of tangible objects. Their funding is available through three categories: Scholarships, Emerging Maker Grants, and Apprenticeships.

Scholarships are intended for mid-career and established makers who want to deepen their expertise, refine their practice, or explore innovation. These grants range from £3,000 to £18,000 and include access to the Cockpit Professional Development Programme.

The Emerging Maker Grant supports those in the early stages of their careers, typically with fewer than four years of professional experience. Grants between £3,000 and £10,000 are available to help build essential skills and grow their craft practice.

Apprenticeship funding provides up to £12,000 to facilitate hands-on learning between a master craftsperson and a new apprentice, enabling the practical transfer of skills and knowledge.

To be eligible, applicants must be practicing professionally in a craft discipline, be 18 or older, live in the UK with the right to reside long-term or permanently, and intend to continue contributing to the UK craft sector. Funding must be used for future training or education.
