Thalia WB Community Fund Grants for Environmental and Public Projects (UK)

Call for Proposals: Supporting Community-Led Solutions for Social Cohesion in Montenegro

Deadline: 01-Dec-2025

The Thalia WB Community Fund provides grants to non-profit organisations in Cambridgeshire, within 10 miles of a registered landfill site, for capital projects that enhance the local environment and public amenities, offering support to projects that are well planned and capable of starting within six months while contributing to environmental conservation and community development.

Focus Areas and Objectives: The provision, maintenance or improvement of a public park or other general public amenity; the conservation of a specific species or a specific habitat where it naturally occurs; the repair, maintenance or restoration of a building or structure which is a Place of Religious Worship or a Place of Historical or Architectural Importance, which is open to the general public.

The Thalia WB Community Fund, formerly known as the Amey Community Fund, operates under the national Landfill Communities Fund scheme, supporting projects that improve the local environment through careful management of waste and sustainable practices. Grants range from £10,000 to £50,000, with projects under the conservation of species or habitats eligible from £5,000. Applicants must provide 11% of the requested grant value as a contribution, and grants are paid after evidence of project expenditure is provided, either in one or two instalments.

Eligible organisations must be operating not for profit, with constitutions, equal opportunity, safeguarding, and conflict of interest policies, an independent management committee, and two independent bank account signatories. Parish councils are eligible, while district, city, or county councils are not. Organisations must have the capacity to handle detailed applications, including knowledge of budgets, cash flow, VAT, procurement, and policy documentation.

Projects should be well developed with clear cost estimates, majority funding secured, planning permissions in place, and potential contractors identified. No financial commitments to suppliers should be made before receiving a formal grant offer. Projects must comply with Entrust’s Objects D, DA, and E, ensuring public benefit, environmental improvement, and cultural or historical preservation in proximity to landfill sites.
