Call for Proposals: Local Impact Grant Programme – UK

Financial Assistance for Parishes Grant Program in Malta

Deadline: 23-Jul-2025

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust is launching the Apart, Not Alone: Local Impact Grant Programme to provide portfolio grants for projects supporting serving families experiencing service-related separation challenges in specific UK locations. This programme takes a new approach, recognizing that some areas—such as isolated or rural postings and short-notice deployments—pose unique difficulties for these families. The aim is to mitigate the impact of separation on serving personnel and reservists’ families.

Grants of up to £300,000 are available for projects lasting up to three years. Successful projects are expected to help families better manage loneliness and isolation during separations, improve mental health and wellbeing, and enhance understanding of effective support models. They should also ease reintegration challenges after deployment and foster stronger partnerships and service integration within the serving community.

To be eligible, applicants must be registered charities or local authorities based in the UK with substantial recent experience supporting the armed forces community. Charities must have been registered for at least three years and have a minimum of three unrelated trustees. Their charitable objects must cover the proposed project’s activities. Local authorities cannot apply for statutory local government delivery work or projects focused primarily on the Armed Forces Covenant/Duty.

Ineligible applicants include childcare providers, commercial organizations seeking profit from schools, independent fee-paying schools, individuals, academy trusts applying for chain-wide projects, and universities or other higher education institutions.

Successful portfolio leads should be established organizations experienced in delivering complex projects, with strong governance and multi-agency collaboration skills. They must demonstrate a deep understanding of the serving armed forces community.
