Deadline: 15-Feb-21
The Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is looking for 10–12 young media makers who are Lebanon-based to be part of a junior fellowship programme aiming to support and inform citizen-centred engagement on democratic discourse and political reform in Lebanon.
Ahead of the 2022 elections, DRI aim to launch, together with young media makers, an online broadcast that introduces new faces to the media landscape and amplifies civil society voices. The broadcast will discuss political change in Lebanon and the way it can be achieved through the coordinated effort of local stakeholders.
In parallel, DRI aim to empower young media makers by expanding their skills to tackle policy problems and jointly collaborating on the broadcast. The project further includes Open Dialogues (talks) with a variety of speakers who are experienced thought leaders (e.g., leading civil society activists, women leaders etc.).
Benefits
- Training opportunity. Applicants will participate in a capacity-building programme on investigative journalism, digital storytelling, policy monitoring, election reporting etc. (7 training sessions in total) between April and July 2021. The training curriculum specifically will be tailored to the needs of the young media makers based on an initial needs assessment.
- Professional experience. Between April and December 2021, applicants will be part of a one-month internship programme at DRI Lebanon that provides applicant with an opportunity to apply their skills. Fellows are entitled to a one-time compensation of 250 EUR for their successful completion of the internship.
