The Kosovo 2.0 is happy to announce that it is continuing its journalism scholarship program within the “Journalism Hub” platform that aims to empower young voices in the field of journalism.
The 2023 Journalism Scholarship is part of the “Human Rightivism” project, which is funded by the Embassy of Sweden in Pristina and implemented by the Community Development Fund through its ”
The 2023 journalism scholarship program will begin in May 2023 and end in December 2023. A total of five (5) fellows will be selected to be a part of the program. The program will provide participants with the skills and tools needed to develop their journalistic productions by the end of the year.
This will be done by providing (1) training, (2) mentoring, and (3) financial support to early-career journalists, giving them the opportunity to produce, under the supervision of experienced editors, stories of large and awarded with prizes, which have as their point of view the field of human rights.
At the beginning of the program, two weeks of intensive training will be organized (10 days in total). The training will be divided into two parts: five days of lectures and five days where the practical and technical aspects will be discussed.
During the first five days the focus will be on journalistic ethics and the journalistic tools needed to produce independent and original products. This includes the theoretical knowledge necessary to realize and produce quality reports on various topics in the field of human rights, such as gender, sexual and ethnic minorities, the environment, dealing with the past, etc.
What do they expect from you?
As a result of the program, each selected fellow is expected to produce a piece of content according to their “core” section. in one of the following formats: At the beginning of the program, two weeks of intensive training will be organized (10 days in total). - In written form (up to 4,000 words),
- Video (10 – 20 minutes),
- Photo essay (15-20 pictures accompanied by text),
By the end of the program, the contents will be translated/subtitled in Albanian, English and B/ C/S, as well as published by Kosovo 2.0.
Prize Information
Each scholarship holder will:
- Receive a total of 2,500 EUR gross for the production of an article in one of the formats of mentioned;
- Will be part of the training program, which is organized at the beginning of the scholarship program on the production of stories, journalistic standards and ethics, multimedia formats, visual content and human rights legislation in Kosovo;
- Will work responsibly under the supervision of an editor.
Fellows must be a part of all aspects of the program and must meet the outcomes of the scholarship program fully and on time as described in this document.
Failure to successfully complete all tasks and responsibilities that are foreseen within the 2023 Journalism Scholarship Program results in the termination of the contract and the loss of all privileges arising from the program, including those of a financial nature.
Eligibility Criteria
- To qualify for the Journalism Scholarship Program, the applicant must:
- Be a journalist, independent or self-employed, employed or unemployed,
- A citizen of Kosovo and resident in Kosovo,
- /Of the age group of 18 to 35 years,
- To have at least two years of proven experience in the field of journalism.
- Past K2.0 scholarship holders are not eligible to apply. Women and members of sexual and ethnic minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Applications, which are complete and submitted on time, will be evaluated by a jury consisting of three people, part of the K2.0 team. The overall score of each applicant will be based 40% on qualifications and experience, while 60% on the basis of the proposal of the topic that will be addressed (Application Form), which is evaluated according to the following indicators:
- Importance,
- Originality,
- Feasibility.
- Applicants who will be selected will be identified based on the arithmetic average of the overall points assigned by each member of the jury.
- In their evaluation, the jury will pay attention to the thematic diversity of the stories to be supported and will promote the principles of equal opportunities and inclusiveness.
