Fellowship for Media Professionals in the Maghreb Region

Raising the Standard of Health Care News Coverage: A Training Program

Deadline: 15-Mar-23

Are you a journalist or content creator based in Morocco, Algeria, Libya or Tunisia? You have a project that will contribute to a sustainable ecosystem of in-depth reporting by promoting responsible, quality and verified journalistic information. Then submit your project and benefit from a production grant.

The international organization Free Press Unlimited, in collaboration with Al Khatt, a Tunisian NGO that works for freedom of the press and expression, is carrying out a reinforcement program for independent journalists in the Maghreb regions thanks to funding from the European Union. This project started in 2021 and will end in 2026.

The main objective of this program is to provide personalized assistance to the media in order to ensure their pluralism, their independence and their resilience considering the difficult and volatile context in which the media operate today.

In order to achieve this objective, the program is centered on three major axes:

In the MENA region, several journalists live in precarious situations, in particular due to their status as independent workers (freelance), and must face major challenges in terms of security. In addition, the constant evolution of the media sector requires innovative skills to meet the expectations of various audiences and to use social networks effectively, while producing quality content. The digitization of the media sector makes it possible to reach a younger audience. The scholarship program will allow selected beneficiaries to improve their skills to better adapt to this new media landscape.
