German-East European Journalist Scholarship Program

Applications Open for European Forum Alpbach Scholarship 2023

Deadline: 25-Jun-22

The International Journalists Programs (IJP) are advertising their scholarship program for Eastern Europe for the twenty-first time.

The Marion Grafin Donhoff journalist grant gives five German journalists and bloggers the opportunity to work as guest editors in an Eastern European or Baltic editorial office for two months. Because of the war, in 2022 German scholarship holders will be accommodated primarily in the three Caucasian republics and in Moldova. The safety of the scholarship holders has top priority. In addition, German journalists who work together with Eastern European colleagues on joint projects can also apply for the first time.

The scholarship is intended to give young journalists from Germany and Eastern Europe the opportunity to gain a personal impression of current political, economic, cultural developments and backgrounds as well as everyday social life in the host country. It offers the unique opportunity to work in a foreign journalistic working environment and to gain an insight into the media landscape there.
