The German Marshall Fund (GMF) is accepting applications to inspire, inform, and connect diverse young leaders by equipping them to reach and excel in elected office and other leadership positions, advance inclusive policies, and work with senior policymakers.
The Transatlantic Inclusion Leaders Network (TILN) fellowship is an empowering program for young diverse elected leaders, with select civil society and business leaders, who collaborate, peer mentor, and educate each other in working to advance inclusive policies and strengthen social cohesion. The program also features dedicated coaches and partners.
The TILN network has more than 200 alumni advancing to higher office, including the European Parliament and US Congress, among other roles.
Through TILN, The German Marshall Fund (GMF) provides a unique opportunity to meet 21st-century leadership requirements, for it is crucial that institutions reflect the diversity of societies across the Atlantic and foster equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Objectives
Since its inception, TILN has been particularly focused on the political inclusion of underrepresented ethnic and racial populations, and on increased initiatives and opportunities for diverse youth in public life in Europe and the United States.
Benefits
– GMF covers airfare, accommodation, and catering in Brussels, and distance learning and in-person workshop costs (registration, coaches’ compensation).
– Some out-of-pocket expenses may be incurred for fellows during the one-week immersion in Brussels (such as airport transfers).
Eligibility Criteria
– A rising leader, aged 35 or younger
– Able to demonstrate their commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in their field of operation
– Willing to learn and grow their expertise through exposure, dialogue, and reflection
– Committed to accelerate positive and lasting change in their community
– Committed to move the transatlantic relationship forward.
– GMF accepts applications from all US federal states, Guam, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, as well as from member states of the European Union, the United Kingdom, Norway, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Albania, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Moldova, and Turkey.
– GMF staff members and their family members are excluded from applying.
– Candidates from historically underrepresented groups are highly encouraged to apply. Historically underrepresented groups include (but are not limited to) Black, Latinx/o/a/e, Indigenous, Asian, Arab, Middle Eastern, Pacific Islander, biracial, multiracial, female-identifying, the disability community, LGBTQIA+, and other marginalized identities.
