The Ideosync-UNESCO Information Fellowship (IUIF), a communication for social change and media rights fellowship program is seeking applications to take young Indians through an intense leadership journey that sets them on a path to understanding communication and media from the perspective of human rights and intersectional feminism.
They will learn to leverage the power of communication to discover new pathways for information creation, access & sharing; while questioning hegemonic technologies and power relations. The Fellows are mentored to become socially conscious leaders and are equipped with skills that help them amplify the voices and stories of the marginalized thereby catalyzing positive social transformation.

IUIF is committed to a future of equitable access to and creation of information, knowledge, and technologies; a future where IUIF Fellows become thought-leaders and use creative and participatory communication methods to foster diversity of voices and opinions, ensuring greater citizen access and rights over media.
Mission
IUIF’s mission is to engage young Indians in exploring ways to reduce power and knowledge inequities through action informed by the principles of participatory and community media, intersectionality and human rights. IUIF also aims to expose them to the complex social systems that foster inequity in every sphere of human existence including new media technologies.
IUIF hopes to help them find points of intersection where communication and media can contribute to open knowledge systems, achieving sustainable development goals and addressing complex issues.
Curriculum
The overall curriculum of IUIF is divided into three main categories. The Skills part of the curriculum includes the basics of communication, media and research. There are perspective building sessions on the fellowship principles, understanding development and media. Fellows are also provided avenues tc share their thoughts and reflections.

- A desire to acquire the requisite Digital Media Information Literacy and skillsand build on scholarship through immersive engagement with communities and practitioners.
- A willingness to explore complexities and unpack truths to find unique & useful ways of using communication to contribute to knowledge equity and people’s rights to media technologies.
Eligibility Criteria
- Age: Below 30 years (As of October 2022).
- Education: Graduate (In any discipline).
- Prior Work Experience Preferred (esp. internships in social/ communication sector).
- Indian Citizen or a Person of Indian Origin.
- 16 weeks full-time commitment to the fellowship.
- Is available for a 10 day in-person practical and immersion session between 10th December 2022 and 10th January 2022.
- Access to laptop and smartphone with basic features and 4G internet or WiFi.
