The Kenya National Innovation Agency (KENIA), in partnership with the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng)-UK is inviting innovators and researchers with technological outputs, who have developed or are in the process of developing a business proposition for their innovations, to apply for the Leaders in Innovation Fellowship (LIF) Programme – 2020.
The programme is implemented under the umbrella of Kenya-UK Newton Fund partnership. The purpose of the programme is to nurture Kenyan technological innovators through capacity building on entrepreneurship and intellectual property right issues.
Selected candidates will be invited to attend a two-week capacity building Programme sponsored by RAEng and KENIA under the Newton Fund partnership.
Criteria
To apply for LIF Programme, innovators need to meet the following selection criteria:
- Be a Kenyan citizen
- Have a technological innovation based on research, from a technological field including but not limited to agricultural technology, biotechnology, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, ICT, materials science, mechanical engineering, chemical and biological sciences, and medical engineering.
- Be affiliated to an institution – either a research institution, university, innovation hub/ incubation Centre
- The technological Innovation should have expected benefit(s) in line with Kenya’s National Development Agenda, the Big Four Agenda.
- The primary application of the innovation must NOT be in defence or military sector.
