Scholarships for the Master’s in Science Education program is now open for applications to support talent and competences among teachers in science subjects at youth education in Denmark, thereby promoting motivating, formative and qualifying teaching in these subjects.
Scholarships for Master's in science education is Scholarships for the Master's in Science Education program offered by the University of Copenhagen in collaboration. The education consists of 1 year's work (60 ECTS points) and is organized as a part-time study over three years, so that it is possible to work alongside the studies. The purpose of the education is to further and further train teachers in the science subjects and thereby link practical experience with the latest knowledge of science didactic research
Project Content
- You can apply for scholarships for the Master's in science education offered by the University of Copenhagen. The education makes up a total of 1 year's work (60 ECTS points) and is organized as a part-time study over three years, so that it is possible to work alongside the studies. The aim of the education is to further train teachers in the natural sciences and thereby link practical experience with the latest knowledge of didactic science research.

The education consists of the following subject modules:
- Science didactics and inquiry-based science teaching (autumn 2023, 10 ECTS)
- Participation requirements and learning culture (spring 2024, 5 ECTS)
- Didactic research methods (spring 2024, 5 ECTS)
- Evaluation and feedback (autumn 2024, 10 ECTS)
- IT, learning and technology understanding in a science didactic perspective (spring 2025, 10 ECTS)
- Master's project (autumn 2025 – spring 2026, 20 ECTS)
Funding Information
- There is a total of up to DKK 6 million. for the awarding of up to 10 scholarships in 2023. Each scholarship is of up to DKK 600,000 and can cover costs for course fees (DKK 110,000 for the entire programme, as well as the free purchase of the high school teacher's time for the studies. If the scholarship does not cover the full training time of one year's work spread over three years, the educational institution and/or applicant must co-finance the remaining time.
- The scholarships are paid in one installment to the educational institution (the administering institution). The rector at the administering institution is responsible for administration and payment of the scholarship over the period of the master's programme. If the secondary school teacher changes workplace during the training period, any continuation and relocation of the scholarship must be approved by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

Eligibility Criteria
- The scholarships can be applied for by the head/principal of upper secondary education (stx, htx, hf, vuc, or eux), and awarded scholarships are anchored and administered at the upper secondary school/educational institution. The headmaster can apply for a scholarship for one (or more) secondary school teacher(s) in the natural sciences and/or technology subjects. The upper secondary school teacher must have permanent employment at the educational institution and be in agreement with the submitted application.

In order to be considered for a scholarship, the application for the secondary school teacher must document
- A master's degree with minor subjects, bachelor's or master's level in one or more science subjects
- A completed pedagogy
- At least four years of teaching experience from a youth education
- The application must contain a commitment from the principal that the educational institution will administer the payment of the scholarship and approve that the secondary school teacher temporarily works part-time to attend to his studies.

Language
- The application system is in English, and applications can be made in Danish or English. The choice of language has no influence on the evaluation of the application.
