Apply Now: Springboard Grants for Early-Career Researchers (UK)

Deadline: 30-Sep-2025

The Springboard Grants, offered through the Going Global Partnerships programme, are designed to help UK research teams build or strengthen partnerships with institutions in France, Germany, or Spain. These grants are particularly aimed at early-career researchers, supporting mobility and collaborative efforts that can lead to joint research proposals or co-authored publications.

The programme focuses on fostering collaborations that align with Horizon Europe thematic areas. These include health, culture and inclusive society, civil security, digital technologies, climate and mobility, and food and environmental sciences.

Each grant provides up to £10,000 in funding. Supported activities can begin from 1 January 2026. Eligible expenses include a compulsory springboard meeting involving up to ten participants from the UK and partner countries, where ideas are exchanged and project plans are shaped. Optional online communication skills training for early-career researchers and research placements for PhD students and postdocs in the partner labs are also covered.

To be eligible, applicants must be research teams based at higher education or not-for-profit research institutions. Applications must be jointly submitted by directors or principal investigators from established labs in the UK and one of the partner countries. Each team may include up to ten members, with at least six being early-career researchers.
