EIT Climate-KIC is looking for a local partner in Tanzania to deliver a ClimAccelerator, an internationally recognised accelerator programme for start-ups to innovate, catalyse and scale the potential of their climate solutions.

This marks the first time, that the ClimAccelerator will be delivered in Tanzania, with a specific focus on supporting start-ups that are developing transformative climate adaptation solutions.

EIT Climate-KIC, in partnership with Irish Aid, is developing an Adaptation Innovation Cluster in Tanzania. This initiative engages with local stakeholders such as partners, accelerators, NGOs, government ministries, donors, consultancies, research institutions, and entrepreneurs. The goal is to understand the innovation ecosystem, government priorities, and areas of need for climate adaptation and resilience. The focus is on supporting innovation in agriculture, land use, and forestry to address food insecurity and malnutrition. Additionally, a ClimAccelerator will be launched to promote Adaptation & Resilience innovations.

Scheduled to run from September 2023 to May 2024, the ClimAccelerator will emphasise sustainable land use, agroforestry, agribusiness, and water as key areas of focus. The primary objectives of the programme are to enhance the resilience of rural communities to existing and future climate hazards, while assisting them in addressing climate vulnerabilities and risks. The ideal start-ups for this programme should be in the early stages of development, equipped with a working prototype, and possess a strong commitment to growing their business and scaling their solution.
