The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking applications for Innovation Challenge in response to COVID-19 a competition of ideas and / or innovative solutions, intended for women and to young people, which aims to respond to specific development challenges, to which solutions and’ traditional’ tools cannot answer.
Objectives
- Objective 1: Support the service and tourism sector in the wilaya of Bechar, with solutions and innovative ideas that support the potential for sustainable development, through initiatives economic, social and solidarity for the development of ecotourism.
- Objective 2: Develop innovative, economic, social and solidarity initiatives in the field of alternative products and derivatives of breeding in the wilaya of Naâma
- Objective 3: Develop innovative, economic, social and solidarity initiatives in the field of beekeeping, small-scale agriculture to traditional processing of apples and plants aromatic and medicinal etc. in Khenchela.
- Objective 4: Develop innovative, economic, social and solidarity initiatives in the fieldperi and intra-urban agriculture in Oran
Purpose
This Innovation challenge aims to promote the role of women and young people, as carriers.of ideas and innovative solutions in the field of social and solidarity economy.
The initiatives proposed must imperatively pursue the following objectives:
- Support the development of Ecotourism in Bechar
- Support the development of alternative products and derivatives of breeding in Naâma
- Support the agricultural development of PAM aromatic and medicinal plants and apples in Khenchela;
- Support peri and intra-urban agriculture in Oran;
Funding Information
- The financial support offered by UNDP under this call for proposals is between 2,045,670 DZD up to 3,409,450 DZD
- UNDP support can cover up to 100% of the total cost of the action (i.e. the.project leader is not required to contribute financially to the submitted project). If there is a balance, i.e. the difference between the total cost of the project and the amount requested from UNDP,must be financed through the own resources of the project leader (s) or partners, or from sources other than the UNDP budget.
- The expected duration of a project should not exceed 5 months.This means that all of the project funding must have been used within the period defined by the project. Funding will be granted in installments, according to the validated action plan, and disbursement must be justified in time for obtaining the next tranche.
Eligibility Criteria
- The innovation challenge is intended for women and young entrepreneurs with a project or an idea innovative project in the wilayas of: Béchar, Naâma, Khenchela and Oran.
- The initiatives supported within the framework of this challenge are for the benefit of young people and women, affected by the socio-economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, in the four target wilayas (Bechar, Khenchela, Oran and Naama)
- Eligibility of entrepreneurs:
- Entrepreneurs with a project must meet the following conditions in order to be able to claim financial support:
- Be 18 years of age or over;
- Own a business (including a sole proprietorship), with legal status in accordance with Algerian law and the regulations in force, directly responsible preparation and management of the action and not be limited to an intermediary role
- Be independent from political parties / movements (the entrepreneur and his company);
- Be registered at the national center of the commercial register;
- Be affiliated with the national insurance fund for non-employees. CASNOS;
- Have an up-to-date tax roll.
